We are Jeff and Robin Maijala, Galveston residents with a love for food. As empty nesters to four very hungry boys, food has always been of the upmost importance to our family. Now that we’ve settled down in Tiki Island over the past two years, it’s our turn to bring our family’s barbecue to this wonderful community.

Wonderful question, dear reader! Sisu is a Finnish term that can be roughly translated into English as strength of will, determination, perseverance, and acting rationally in the face of adversity. Sisu is not momentary courage, but the ability to sustain that courage.

This is a courage that we’ve lived our whole lives through, so it was only fitting to name our venture together after it.
